Postal Services in Andaman & Nicobar Islands
During the British era there was only one sub post office at Ross Island for the entire group of Anadaman & Nicobar Islands. This sub post office was rendering accounts to Pegu Head Post office (Rangoon). At that time mails were coming to Port Blair from three stations- Burma, Calcutta and Madras. Initially the frequency of ships was once in a month from Calcutta and Madras, and twice a month from Rangoon . In course of time two more post offices were opened at Chatham and Long Island. Thus when the British left India there were three post offices in these islands.
After independence A & N Islands remained with India and the Post offices were placed in a/c with Barrackpore Head Post office under Presidency Division, West Bengal with headquarters at Barrackpore. Subsequently, the Presidency Division was bifurcated and administrative control was vested with South Presidency Division with headquarters at Calcutta. When the population grew with new settlers coming in, the first Postal Sub Division was created in May 1961.
A full-fledged Postal Division under a Superintendent of Post offices was created on 27th April,1971. On 19th September 1988 this Division was placed under the control of a Director of Postal Services. A & N Division now comprises of 100 post offices including the lone Head Post Office at Port Blair, 26 Sub Post offices and 73 Branch Post offices spread all over the islands. There are 158 regular and 214 GDS staff.

(Q) Transactions in BPL accounts cannot be done in sb form no 1309 i.e sb deposit?
Solution: Use the form number 1310 ECS-Debits and Credits
(Q) While accepting RD bulk acceptance (i.e for opening new acccount) a error comes?
Solution: Use RD bulk setup (rd form no:1110), Add new accounts to the agent, after alloting the number of account to the agent the number will be correctly displayed for the new account
Note: Correct procedure is not yet all given by SDC Lan, while doing new accounts to the agent, the number of accounts alloted to agent will automatically taken from General account number, thus those account become unallocated and you have to change the run number from supervisor>>intilisation>>rd a/c , nominee, AT (form no0453). This step has to done for all agents and have to do daily

Cheques, drafts validity only for 3 months from April
NEW DELHI, MAR 23: Come April 1 and cheques and bank drafts will be valid only for 3 months, a development that RBI thinks will help mitigate frauds related to such instruments.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed that with effect from April 1, 2012, banks should not make payments against cheques, drafts, pay orders or banker’s cheques if they are presented after the period of three months from date of issue.
It has been brought to its notice by the government that some persons were taking undue advantage of the six month validity of cheques, drafts, pay orders, banker’s cheques by circulating them like cash for this period, RBI had said in a notification earlier.
According to a senior banker, the three-month validity period is a good enough time period for instrument conciliation.
“RBI is satisfied that in public interest and in the interest of the banking policy, it is necessary to reduce the period within which cheques/drafts/pay orders/banker’s cheques are presented for payment from six months to three months from the date of such instrument,” it had said.

New Tibet Post Office at Mount Everest
Have recently become aware of a new Post Office in Tibet set up in May 2001 in the Rongbuk Valley at the base camp for Mount Everest. At 17,000 feet it is claimed to be the worlds highest Post Office. It apparently opens at 11am every day from April to August and costs 3 yuan (c43 US cents) to send a letter to Beijing, and 9 yuan (c1.35 US dollars) to send a letter to England.

Under Water Post Office
Vanuatu Post’s Underwater Post Office, found just off Hideaway Island near Port Vila, has quickly become one of the busiest post offices for postcards in the world!
Visitors from around the world have literally donned their mask and snorkels, postcards in hand to experience the world’s first underwater post office.
And they have not been disappointed. The Post Office is only 50 metres offshore and at just three metres below the surface, is very accessible to the young and young at heart. Thousands of visitors have posted one of the special waterproof postcards available in Vanuatu; these cards are collected regularly by one of Vanuatu Post’s four trained scuba divers and “cancelled” underwater with an embossing cachet. Mail that requires a normal Underwater Post Office date stamp is cancelled in the Main Post Office.
Since opening in 2003, the underwater post office has received an estimated 100,000 visitors. The underwater branch is manned daily for usually about an hour, longer on cruise ship days or with demand.
“I love working at the underwater branch,” says VPL’s Samuel Robert. “It’s great fun and really pleasing to see so many visitors each day who cannot believe their eyes!”
Vanuatu Post has released two stamp issues commemorating the world’s first underwater post office.

How to Disable Error Reporting in Internet exlporer
Error in Internet Explorer
Error Reporting is on by default in Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1. The service gives Microsoft the ability to track and address errors relating to the operating system, components, and applications. The ideabehind the service was that Microsoft would be able to track down bugs and fixthem more efficiently and quickly.
Many users do not need or want to take advantage of thisfeature and would like to turn it off. Many of these users are concerned aboutwhat information is being passed on to Microsoft and about their privacy. Otherusers are just annoyed at how often they see the screen (Figure A) that asks them to submit the bug through the ErrorReporting service.VAXenGuy discovered. If you still get error messages afterdisabling Error Reporting, especially dubious ones, you could disable theservice with a Windows Registry edit.
Solution 1
The controls to turn off or customize Windows ErrorReporting reside in System Settings, located in the Control Panel. (You canalso right-click My Computer and select Properties.) In the System Settingsdialog box, select the Advanced tab and then click the Error Reporting buttonto reveal the Error Reporting dialog box shown in Figure B.
Error Reporting configuration
From this dialog box, you can disable Error Reporting orcustomize it to work only on certain programs and/or Windows components.
Once you've disabled Error Reporting, you might as welldisable the service entirely, which you can do through Administrative Tools inthe Control Panel. Double-click on Services from the Administrative Toolsdialog box, scroll down to the Error Reporting entry, and double-click it. Fromthis dialog box, you can stop the service or restart it if you turned if offbefore.
Solution 2
Apparently, even disabling Error Reporting through theconventional means may not be enough, as
Open the Windows Registry with your favorite editor andnavigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PCHealth\ErrorReporting
To disable Error POSTAL ABBREVIATIONS
